Free Things to do In New York City

New York is a busy city, and it’s also a fun city. There are a lot of things to do there and not everything is going to cost you an arm and a leg.

We did a lot of free things on our New York trip. The great thing about NYC is you don’t need to spend a lot to get the energy of the city. It’s everywhere!

If you’re looking to incorporate some free activities during your visit, check out the list below.

Here are some free things to do in New York City:

  • Grand Central Station: There is a food court on the lowest level. Love the architecture of this place. Totally understand the hype in visiting!

  • New York Public Library: There’s an exhibition on the first floor which is like a mini museum. Love all the displays they had. The architecture of this library is absolutely worth checking out! It’s amazing.

  • St Patrick’s Cathedral: A beautiful cathedral. Worth checking out if you’re in the area. As always, just be mindful since it is a place of worship for many.

  • Central Park: This goes without saying, but it’s one thing you should probably do if you’re visiting New York City. It’s free and it’s a beautiful park. There’s a lot to see!

  • Brooklyn Bridge: I know crossing a bridge may not sound all that cool, but if it’s the Brooklyn Bridge—it’s gonna be pretty cool. You can see the Statue of Liberty from the bridge! It’s such a beautiful bridge so definitely stop by.

  • DUMBO: This area of Brooklyn is so fun and charming. Check out the eateries and coffee shops!

  • Chinatown: Such a cool neighborhood to visit. We stopped here for lunch. I love seeing all the shops and the street decor.

  • Little Italy: Neighbors with Chinatown so definitely don’t miss walking this area. Love all the shops here!

  • Rockefeller Plaza: A cool place to walk through. There are some shops and eateries here.

  • Times Square: You cannot miss Times Square. It’s bright, it’s colorful, it’s amazing. Love the energy in this area.

Definitely fit in free things to do around New York City. Just because they’re free doesn’t mean they’re not fun!
