4 Personality Tests You can Take Today & why you should

I love taking personality tests. They also reveal something about me that I didn’t before.

Through taking various tests throughout my life, I’ve learned a great deal about myself. Through learning more about me, I’ve been able to figure out why I like certain things, why I feel a certain way, and if I want to change how can I go about it. It has also helped me hone in on different jobs I like or hobbies I enjoy.

Now, personality tests are NOT the end all, be all. They only show results based on your answers. You can take the same test next year and get different results, that’s because we, as humans, change all the time.

They shouldn’t be used as an excuse to why you are the way you are. But they can be used as a resource to explain why you are the way you are. From there, you can work on areas you need to work on.

I have found that personality tests are also great for relationships whether it’s between friendships, romantic partners or in the work force. It really helps you to see and understand everyone’s strengths and weaknesses which helps the dynamic of the relationship a lot.

I especially highly recommend taking these tests for any leadership groups or romantic partners. It will help you tremendously.

Alright, with all that said here are 4 Tests I recommend you check out:

Enneagram Testhttps://www.truity.com/test/enneagram-personality-test

This test is another recent popular ones. This test puts you into one of the 9 personality types. “According to the Enneagram, every personality has a certain world view and looks at the world through their own lens or filter. This makes it possible to explain why people behave in certain ways. By describing how the basic personality changes in both positive and negative situations—our ideal selves versus our defense mechanisms—the Enneagram shows opportunities for personal development and provides a foundation for the understanding of others.”

It's been helpful for me to understand how I react and why I react a certain way, it’s helped me to think more about my subconscious beliefs. This test is a great one to understand communication—how you communicate and how you want to be communicated to. A great test.

16 Personality Trait Testhttps://www.16personalities.com

This test has 16 different personality combinations that you can possibly be. Ever seen those ENFJ or INFJ and wonder what those letters stand for? Well, this is the test for that. The test covers 5 different areas: Mind, nature, tactics, Identity, and energy. Through a series of questions, it then determines which personality type you are. The test will describe each letter and your strengths & weaknesses, recommended career path, romantic partnerships, friends, etc.

Strengthsfinder testhttps://high5test.com/strengthsfinder-free

This is a popular test in the academia world. At least I remember taking this test a lot when I was in college. But I absolutely love this test! There’s a free version and a paid version. The paid version is just a longer more extended version, but I think both are great.

This test is not so much like other personality tests. This test is more about personality strengths. It covers 4 themes: Execution, Influence, Relationship building, and Strategic thinking. After taking the test, the result will share your Top 5 strengths. Some of the strengths are achiever, activator, Empathy, Relator, Futuristic, Learner, Developer, Connectedness, etc. These key types will show you how you think, how you relate.

This is one the tests that has really helped me become more self-aware on how I relate to others and my jobs.

5 Love Languagehttps://www.5lovelanguages.com/quizzes/

This is the infamous 5 Love Language test. It’s popular amongst couples. But I still think it’s a great test to take because it will help you understand how you receive love and how you give love. Because believe it or not, not everyone receives love the same way as you.

This is great in group settings as well because it helps you to be more intentional in how you show appreciation to others.

Those are the 4 Personality tests I’ve taken that I enjoy and that I think holds a lot of accuracy. Of course, like all personality tests, not everything is going to be 100% all the time.

I do think that taking these tests will help you to understand yourself and understand others better. We are all so different in our own ways and the more we can understand one another, the better we can work together.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Think about your results and let them be a resource and a guide. Don’t let the results be your end all, be all.

  • It’s okay if you don’t agree with your results

  • Let the results help you to better understand yourself and people, but don’t let them define you and other people

  • Take what benefits, leave what doesn’t

  • Have fun with these tests

Again, use the results from these tests as a tool or resource to help you improve on your limiting beliefs or weaknesses and strengthen your skills and strengths.

Remember that as we change so does the results of these personality tests. Let them be a way to help you become more self-aware. Through self-awareness comes understanding, compassion, and empathy.
