Camera Equipment I Bring with Me When I Travel | Traveling Camera Gear

I like to bring my camera gear with me when I travel. While I don’t bring everything with me on every trip, I do carry something on every trip.

I’m not a photographer. But I do create content for my blog and instagram. I love being able to capture the places I’m visiting and sharing these places.

I’ve gotten questions about what I take with me on trips. So I thought I’d write it into a blog post!

How I decide what camera gear to bring:

What I decide to bring really depends on what I will be doing and how much I want to carry. If I just want to capture some moments and videos, my iPhone is usually enough. If in addition to that I also want more polished photos or if I plan on doing a photoshoot, then I’ll bring along my Canon. If I’ll be doing any water activities or heigh-related activities, I may bring my gopro.

I like to plan out my travel trips (I always make an itinerary), but I don’t necessarily plan out my photos or the kind of shots I want. I prefer to enjoy the present while being able to capture whatever it is I’m doing or wherever it is I am at. That has helped to give me creative freedom, and it’s also less stressful.

I also would prefer not to haul a lot of things if I can help it. Less luggage is always better in my book.

With all that said, here is a list of all my camera equipment at this moment:

Camera:

Canon EOS RP mirror less camera

Go Pro 9

iPhone 13

Camera Lens I use:

Canon 50mm 1.8 lens

Canon 24mm 2.8 lens

Other camera tools:

3-legged tripod

Selfie Stick Single tripod

Canon adapter

GoPro Dome (for underwater shots)

Post-production tools:

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Lightroom

Here I will go through each of the items above and briefly review them.

Canon EOS RP: This is a full frame mirror less camera. It’s lightweight and the camera body is easy to carry and pack. If you’re looking to start on a full frame camera or mirror less camera, highly recommend this camera. It’s also affordable in comparison to other full frame mirrorless cameras.

GoPro 9: I use this for my water and underwater shots. I love the quality of the GoPro 9. I haven’t used any of the previous editions, but I do love the 9. The image quality is good and the video quality is also good. It has different settings which I think is another great feature.

Iphone 13: I take a lot of photos on my Iphone 13. I like all the different camera features that the Iphone 13 has like the wide-lens, aperture adjustments, different photo color correction settings.

Canon 50mm 1.8 lens: A great affordable prime lens for portrait shots (photos with a blurrier background due to its aperture). Seriously a great start lens!

Canon 24mm 2.4 lens: Another great affordable lens. This lens is wider and it captures more depth in a photo. It’s a great starter lens if you want something that can capture a good amount of landscape. (Though if you want to do exclusive landscape photography, I would invest in a good wide lens).

3-legged tripod: I don’t take this on trips with me, but it is a good tool to have. I use this when I’m going self-portraits or I’m shooting a group of people. It’s also a great tool to have if you need steadiness in your photos.

Selfie Stick Single tripod: I bring this tripod with me because it is smaller. I use this tripod with my GoPro and my phone. It’s a great tripod that packs well in backpacks and suitcases.

Canon adapter: My camera lens are not made for the Canon EOS so I need this adapter for the lens to work.

GoPro Dome: I use this for underwater and water shots. This is the case I put my GoPro10 in. I love this dome. If you want photos that are half in the water, half above the water—this dome tool is the one for you.

In addition to these equipments are camera batteries, chargers, and SD cards. For these, I just get whatever is required or needed for the camera.

That’s a list of the different camera equipment I use, and I take with me on my travels. I hope you find this list helpful!

There are new cameras that come out every year, and there are always new gadgets and tools to assist with photography. But you don’t need the newest or latest equipment. You can use what you already have and improve your photography through learning about lighting and space.

I’m not a photographer, I just enjoy creating content and taking photos. This list of camera equipment is what I’ve taken on trips, and what has worked for me this far. If you’re a beginner I hope this list will be helpful for you depending on what you want to do.

In all honesty though, you don’t need all that gear for good photos. It’s all about learning how to take photos and post-production.

At the end of the day, remember to take in the views, be present in the moment, and enjoy your time there!
