Mt Rainier Gondola at Crystal Mountain

Did you know that in the summer, there is a Gondola you can take to enjoy the views of Mt Rainier? That’s right! Get an amazing view without the hike.

About the gondola ride:

The gondola is located at Crystal Mountain Resort. There are plenty of parking spaces at the resort. We arrived around late afternoon and had no problem finding parking.

You can purchase tickets online or buy it there. We got our tickets there because I wasn’t sure what time we would make it to the resort and if the weather was going to work in our favor.

You can purchase tickets at the gift shop at the resort. You will see signs.

Once you get your tickets, walk over to the gondola, give the attendant you’re tickets, they’ll scan it for you, then you’re on your merry way.

The gondola ride is about 7 minutes. May vary due to stops. Enjoy the ride there because the views at stunning. It’s also one of the most vertical gondola rides I’ve ever seen, but it’s a fun experience nonetheless.

Once at the top, get off and enjoy the view!

There is a restaurant called Summit House that you can dine at. There is also a snack and gift shop called Tower 16 where you can purchase snacks and drinks. I got a hot chocolate.

Along the walkway there are also seats set out for people to sit and enjoy the view. We definitely sat here for a good half hour simply soaking in all the views! There’s plenty of space to walk around up there. There’s also a mining system made for kids.

When you’ve taken in all the views that you want, get on the gondola and head back down.

A ticket is round trip so it includes your ride up and your ride down. You can stay at the summit for as long as you want, there is no time constrain.

Other Details:

There are restrooms and food available for purchase at the summit, they’re also available at the main building near the gondola entrance.

I loved this experience. I think this is a great option if you’re not a hiker but still want a view. Or if you’re traveling with others who may not be able to hike but still wants a nice view.

It’s truly beautiful.

Highly recommend stopping by if you’re visiting Mt Rainier National Park.
