A little back story…

I got these hiking shoes for my trip to Maui. I was planning to do some hiking and I knew I need more substantial shoes. These shoes arrived just a couple days before my trip so I didn’t have time to break into them. However, they didn’t hurt my feet nor gave me blisters even on my first hike with them, which was amazing.

Since then I’ve hiked over 20 miles with these shoes and I can confidently say that I have not gotten a single blister from wearing them.

The first trail I wore these hiking shoes was the Sliding Sand Trail on Haleakala Mountain. I hiked about 4.5 miles at an elevation over 10,000 feet. I even layered my socks because we were on such a high altitude—no pain or blisters.

I’ve hiked with these shoes in Oregon and Yosemite, and they continue to wear well.

From there here is a list of a few other trails I hiked since then (doesn’t include all trails I’ve hiked in these shoes):

  • Pipiwai Trail – 5 miles

  • Waihee Trail – 5 miles (turned 7 due to overflow parking)

  • Trails of 10 falls – 8.7 miles

  • Four Mile Trail – 6 miles (to and from Union Point)

Other information about the hiking shoes:

  • I clean the shoes after every wear to keep it maintained.

  • Even after over 50 miles of hiking, the hiking shoes are still sturdy and in good shape.

  • The hiking shoes do have a higher shaft, which I prefer because it helps stabilize the ankles especially when hiking downhill.

  • I’ve hiked across rivers and streams and no water has seeped through to my socks.

  • After 50+ miles of hiking, I have not gotten a single blister from these shoes!

Of course there are more hiking shoe options out there at all price ranges.

But if you are just starting out on your hiking ventures or you’re looking for a good quality affordable pair of hiking shoes—these Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped hiking shoes are for you.

I love wearing mine on hikes. I will continue to wear them until they’re worn down before I invest in new ones.

These shoes are also pretty lightweight for how sturdy they are. The bottom also has good tracking which is amazing especially on trails that are wet or when hiking uphill trails.
